The Chad Next Door (Love in Sun City) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 362 ratings

Torn between a quiet life and the chaos of unexpected love, Private Investigator Chad Briggs is set to find out if a snowstorm can melt his heart in Laketown. When Hope, the all too attractive—and far too young—woman next door, Chad’s life is thrown into a whirlwind he would rather not face, but he doesn’t have much of a choice.

Trying to navigate her new life after unexpectedly gaining custody of her dead sister’s kids, Hope knows she shouldn’t be interested in her much older neighbor, no matter how easy he is on the eyes. But when a snowstorm traps them together in one house, can they ignore the sparks between them?

With every reason to think a relationship is impossible, especially with the kids in the mix, they know a weekend fling isn't going to end well.

But their hearts didn't get the memo, and they might be in too deep to back out.

Books in the Love in Sun City series are tied together and overlap but can be read in any order or as standalones. They contain minimal to no swearing and no explicit content.

This one sucked me in from the start!

This one sucked me in from the start!
I've loved every book by Dana LeCheminant that I've ever read. I loved this one so much. And I'm excited to read all of the books in this series. This series is unique because it follows siblings and they can be read in any order. This book is about Chad. He's the oldest of the siblings. Chad's backstory made me a little sad. He was forced into adulthood way too quickly. And he's always felt responsible for his siblings. But he turned out to be a great guy, even with all of the things he went through. I love the way he cares for his siblings, and really everyone around him, even when they annoy him like Hope did at the beginning of this book.I loved the way Hope took in her niece and nephew when her sister died. She was so good for Zelda and Link, even though she feels like she's failing them all the time. I love the way she lights up Chad's life, even when he doesn't want to let her in. She's such a tease with him.I loved the way this book sucked me in from the very start. It made me so excited to read the rest of the stories in this series!I was sent an e-copy of The Chad Next Door. All opinions are my own.

I am loving this series and Chad's story did not disappoint. I'm not usually a big fan of the age gap trope, but I feel like the author did a really good job with both Chad and Hope where it didn't bother me and I felt like they fit well and connected well (Hope’s life made her more mature than her age). Hope has had her world turned upside down, but when she moves to Laketown she never would have guessed how much her new neighbor would come to mean to her.
I loved how good Chad was and how protective and caring he was to all those around him. He was so good with the kids; I love that in a hero. I enjoyed the forced proximity and humor. It was a cute romance and I can't wait to read more in this series.

Hope just got custody of her niece and nephew, Zelda and Link, and moved to Colorado. Her grumpy next-door neighbor, Chad, has to keep coming to her rescue in humorous ways, as well as legit ways. There is a snowstorm coming and although Chad tries to keep his distance from his new neighbors, he doesn't want them to freeze so he invites them to stay with him during the storm. He also invites his neighbor Hank. As they are all snowed in together, the sparks fly, and Hope and Chad get romantically involved. And although Hope is ready to go all in, is Chad ready after he has endured heartbreak in the past?

This was a fun story! There are a lot of funny moments, including pasta sauce, spiders and more. Chad is so grumpy, and Hope annoys him at first, but the attraction is strong between them. I loved Chad and Hope's adorableness as a couple. The thing I loved the most was the family dynamic. I loved Hope, Chad and Zelda and Link as a family. Also, Duke the dog is just adorable! I loved how protective Chad was over the family. If you love grumpy x sunshine, age gap, great family dynamic and instalove you will love this book!
    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25

Content(Spoiler alert): makeouts (personally there was too much for my taste), lying in bed/sleeping in the same bed (nothing sexual happens)

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

This was such a fun book to read. I just loved getting to know Chad better.  I fell in love with his siblings in the Wonder Boys series book Love in Disguise and totally feel in love with him here.

I love how well Chad and Hope communicate with each other. I also love how Chad interacts with Hope's niece and nephew. He was so great at helping them feel comfortable and safe.

I love Hope's sunshine to Chad's grump. They are perfect for each other and compliment each other well. I also love all of the clumsy moments that Hope has and how she stays so cheerful through it all.

I love the witty banter and there were so many moments that made me laugh out loud!

This is the 2nd book in the Love In Sun City series, it can be read as a stand alone and in any order.

Romance, sweet, contemporary; series but stand alone read
Chad and Hope’s story is a lovely, funny, sweet fall. Chad has always taken care of his siblings since their mother died when he was 15. Even as an adult, they look to him as a problem solver, listening ear, and home base. Hope literally runs into him when she moves next door with her niece and nephew.
Some truly funny moments, tender, and heartfelt ones as well, a total fantastic fall for them both. Laketown setting was perfect for them. Snowstorm and the forced proximity helped move things along. Loved when the siblings came into the picture.

This book is fantastic! I loved it! So, so good. I’m in love with the Briggs siblings. Hope is a bit of a hot mess, just doing the best she can in her new role as guardian to her young niece and nephew. Chad is older and jaded, looking to avoid people and take a break. But as perpetual fixer, Chad can’t help but get involved with his new neighbours. Chad’s history and relationships with his siblings filled my heart right up. I adore an older sibling sacrificing and caring for younger siblings. Hope is relatable and trying so hard. “I am such a sad excuse for an adult that the only thing I can do is laugh.” The quick turnaround of their relationship and the unexpected close proximity is fun and swoony. Plenty of good kisses to be found here. There is a twelve year age gap between the two main characters. “Twelve years isn’t a lot, but it’s…a lot.” Just one obstacle for them, not to mention the kids, living situations and locations, and a bit of the past following them. There is an engaging little subplot of intrigue added to the story. This book is part of a series about siblings and each book runs parallel to the others in a similar time frame. Each can be read as a standalone, or in any order. I can only imagine that writing four concurrent stories is quite challenging. I’m super excited for the rest of the series. This is a closed door romance with some innuendo and no harsh language.

5.0 out of 5 stars All I dreamed of! 😍

Y’all…!! 😍 Until now, Kit Morgan has remained firmly in first place for favourite leading man in Dana’s stories. But… Chad Briggs may have just edged him out. 🥰🤭 At the very least, they’re tied, haha.

Chad surprised me in the very best of ways. Despite having a name mostly used for jerk boyfriends, Chad Briggs is one fine man. I fell in love with him in Micah’s book because he’s seriously the sweetest, most protective big brother ever. Their relationship was the cutest thing! (Plus, Chad on pain pills was beyond hilarious!)

Hope has been through the wringer & so have her kids (niece & nephew), but I love her determination and optimism. The balance & dynamic she shared with Chad were adorable. And yeah, it’s an age gap romance (12 years), but personally I loved it!

The emotional depths this story plummeted was moving. My eyes watered profusely. Chad had held it together, taking care of everyone for so long, it took Hope to finally see all of him. 🥺

As a side note, there were a few kissing scenes that almost went too far for me personally. Still clean and closed door just a bit steamier than I prefer. 🙂

And HANK! That man NEEDS a story! 😂
