Product description
Introducing Bose Sleepbuds II — tiny, comfortable earbuds with sleep technology that’s clinically proven to help you fall asleep faster. They work with the Bose Sleep app to deliver relaxing sounds that help you fall asleep, and use Bose noise-masking technology to cover unwanted nighttime disturbances that may otherwise wake you. So you get your best sleep ever. From wind deepbown to wake up, this is your easy solution to better sleep.
Sluds play content only from the app. Explore the Sound Library’s curated relaxation content — including tranquil tonal environments and sounds from nature and beyond — and Bose-engineered noise-masking sounds designed to cover nighttime disturbances like snoring, outside traffic, and next-door conversation. Download your favorites directly onto the earbuds to customize your nighttime routine. The app also lets you set an alarm only you’ll hear, and access other features including Phone-free Mode, which allows you to program your settings ahead of time so you can leave your phone in another room.
In addition to optimized sleep sounds, Bose noise-masking technology also uses the noise-blocking design of proprietary soft silicone eartips. A pliable fin fits snugly in the ridge of your ear, while an umbrella shape gently seals off your ear canal to passively block noise. Three sizes are included so you can find a secure, comfortable fit. Sleep on your back or your side, toss and turn, or rollover during the night, Sleepbuds will stay put.
A nickel-metal hydride battery provides up to 10 hours per charge, enough for a full night’s sleep, while the included charging/storage case gives you up to three additional full charges. Experience Sleepbuds for yourself.

They are also very comfortable and I can sleep in any position without discomfort.
These block out all noise and I don't even think I would be able to hear my fire alarm if it were to go off...that could be a pro or a con, However since I've got these I have slept great every night.
The app functions work well and all the noises on the app are nice as well. I was worried because you can't upload your own noises but they have something for everyone I think.
Now the only bad thing is it seems like the battery drains pretty fast out of the case even when not using it... So id recommend plugging in the case everyday just so they aren't dead when you use them even though there was enough battery for another night..
Anyways besides that one small issue I believe these are the best option out there for helping with sleep.

Original review:
The sound cancelling itself is fairly decent... you can still hear most sounds through it.. just covers a lower frequency. When you add the app's white noise features it pretty well covers anything else keeping you awake. As long as you aren't kept awake by white noise you'll love this.
My only issue with it is despite the entire earpiece being quite soft... the main bud still gets driven into your cartilage a bit on the side you sleep on. I at first was waking up to pain-- and it hurt to touch my inner cartilage. My ear is getting used to it..... but I'm noticing little bumps on my ear where the pain occurs. Hopefully I don't get cauliflower ear like a boxer lol. If they can soften the casing of the mechanical parts further in the next version it will be perfect.
Ill take a slight pain over being kept up by my partner's snoring all night.
Reason for buying:
I have had trouble sleeping due to my OCD. Nothing to do with street noise or any of that sort. It’s because I focused so heavily on negative things and my brain wouldn’t shut off.
The Fit/feeling:
I thought I would have trouble with the fit because I’m a stomach sleeper. The first couple nights it took some getting used to, not because of discomfort but because I’ve never slept with earplugs or anything in the past. Once I got over that. I barely notice them.
The sound clips:
I haven’t tried many of them as there are a few I really like that seem to work every time. “Showers” being my favourite. It takes my overactive brain to a happy place, creates a calm environment that seem to melt the worry and stress of the day away in just a few minutes.
I tried the “synthesized” sounds like deep organ meditation music but the sounds just loop. And being a musician I kept anticipating a change in chords, but they don’t happen. I wasn’t a fan, but those trying to block out noise might like them perhaps?
Battery life: battery life seems good. I have them on continuous throughout the night and they lasted two nights of 6 hours of sleep without charging. I now have them plugged in every day next to my bed so I’m not really concerned.
Overall: the price had me wondering if I was nuts to spend this kind of money on something that doesn’t play my music. But I was so desperate to find a cure for my sleeplessness I figured I would give it a go. After the first couple nights I thought they weren’t worth it. They weren’t that effective but I think it was because it was so different.
After a couple weeks, I couldn’t be happier. I fall asleep faster, I get quality sleep and my dreams have become so vivid it’s almost a treat going to sleep wondering what kind of messed up dream I’m about to have. No nightmares but they trigger something because I don’t remember having dreams like this before, and I almost never remember dreams at all. That is probably the one drawback- my dreams were so freaky at first I woke up several times the first few days.
Conclusion: if you have OCD or trouble with your thoughts like I do, these may be the solution. Although I went back and forth wondering if I should return them, I’m so glad I didn’t. They have literally changed my life.
I purchased several cheaper wired headphones over the years but they always broke and the wires were forever tangling in my hair. Reviewed several Youtube reviews and landed on this pair & they are absolutely worth the investment. I'm a side sleeper and they fit perfectly with no discomfort & perfectly drown out snoring and house or hotel noise when away from home. If you have a busy mind they are nice for helping you concentrate on just the noise but my thoughts still overpower the sound... no fault of the head phones.
After 1 year, the left one no longer played sounds despite being fully charged, I called Bose support with my serial # and they offered to mail a replacement refurbished model as new is no longer available, so keep that in mind if purchasing the Bose sleep 2 model. You're required to ship back the broken pair but they send you a UPS shipping label, and the replacement is free of chare along with another full year warranty.
Even after having this issue I wouldn't hesitate to purchase again for the value of a decent night's sleep.
Tips: The need to be re-charged after every use, they have a wi-fi free mode, there are several sized covers that come with the set to choose from, there are only a few sounds to choose from but there is a good variety.

The original Sleepbuds were great. They were tiny, battery life was all night and then some unlike my Airpods, and they are pretty comfortable. Like the Airpods, it was pretty easy to forget they are in after a minute or two.
Unfortunately, the original Sleepbuds also had a major problem. After a couple months, the batteries started acting wonky. They would charge, then one wouldn't charge, they often had trouble connecting. It turns out that the new battery technology they used wasn't working out. Bose recalled the whole batch and refunded the money of those that purchased them, in full. I was happy to get the money back but very sad to lose the Sleepbuds.
In the time since, I've used my Airpods on the really bad nights but I can't lay on my side and the battery life isn't enough to get through the night. They even make an annoying sound that wakes you up right before the battery dies. Then I purchased a set of Jabra 75t that promised 7 hours of battery life (not quite, more like 5 hours). They were a little better at blocking noise but at the end of the battery life they screamed "Low Battery. Low Battery" at me. While the Airpods were comfortable (but not very good at blocking sound), the Jabras were not as comfortable, sometimes causing me ear pain where they rubbed.
Some nights I would use the Jabras and when they died I would switch to the Airpods. Not ideal.
I've looked at some of the other options out there but none of them appealed to me. That's why I'm so happy the Sleepbuds are back.
Bose has changed to good old, reliable NiMh battery technology. I'm not sure why they didn't go Li-Ion but I'm sure they had reasons. The new Sleepbuds II actually seem smaller than the originals but maybe that's because I'm used to the much larger (though still pretty small) Jabra earbuds. They don't stick out of my ears at all so laying on my side is no problem.
I've only used them one night but assuming they have the battery problem worked out, it will be so great to have them back. I slept for 8 hours last night and the battery charge still showed at 40%. They are very comfortable. I find the selection of sounds more than adequate. I just need a noise masking sound. I like the Brown Static since it helps block the low sounds of snoring better than some of the more "bright" sounds.
These are really expensive. And the charging case is too big. I'm not sure why it can't be Airpod or Jabra case sized. That would make them easier to travel with.
But they work, at least for me. Let's just hope we don't have battery problems again...

UPDATE: Two+ months in. I'm still loving these. I'm sleeping SO good. I use them every night and in the 2+ months I have had them, the right one has fallen out twice, probably because I didn't get it put in quite right. A few nights ago I had some pain in the right ear, probably because I didn't get it put in quite right :). Most of the time, once they get settled in after a few minutes, I can't even feel them, even when laying on my side.
I'm still using the Warm Static sound and it works about 99% of the time to keep me from hearing any sounds from the other side of the bed. If I do hear it, I bump the volume up a touch and it goes away.
So, I'm definitely still happy. There does seem to be a bug either in the software or iOS where allowing phone calls to make it through to the buds doesn't stay turned on. If I get it working one night then it doesn't work the next night. I'm not sure who's fault that is, Bose or Apple.
I definitely recommend them if you are a light sleeper that can't tolerate any noises in your sleeping environment.

UPDATE: 1 year in
Darn it. The left bud has stopped connecting to the app. I was thinking that they were two years old and these things do have limited recharge cycles. So I checked and no, they are only a year old. After slogging through the Bose support site and trying everything I was finally able to get to the place where they will replace them under warranty. That's nice but they are saying UP TO FOUR WEEKS to get the replacements.
How the heck am I supposed to get any sleep for the next four weeks without these things? Hopefully it doesn't take that long.
I'm still loving these things. They work very well for me. I hope this new set lasts more than a year.
