The issue wasn't the paper it was the delivery of a broken box and also broken seals. It appears this shipment is a replacement shipment. In this order the outside box was solid and closed on all sides. The paper itself had rips and tears and if the outside box wasn't well closed it might have been an issue.
Overall I am happy now.

*Amazon ought to be ashamed of how they shipped this product. It was shipped in a box, but inside the box the entire wrap of the ream of paper was completely destroyed as if it were dropped from a high building before being placed in that box. Luckily I salvaged all but about 20 pieces of crunched paper. I would hesitate to buy again - not because of paper quality but because of how little care was taken by Amazon in packing & shipping.
