This author is endearing. A little what we in Australia call ‘airy-fairy’, but that is why I’ve dubbed her my fairy godmother. This is the third book of hers I’ve read and I can say that she’s someone who calls it like it is. This book is comical and straightforward, it offers up anecdotes and learnt wisdom in the creative field and it’s accessible to anyone really. I don’t prescribe to everything said but I figure Gilbert would totally get that. We are all unique :)

This is likely one of the best books I've read in years. Not in the sense that it uses the most beautiful words, has the grandest ideas, best pep talk or stacking amounts of research. No. It's purely a creative talking to another creative, on how to create without guilt and beyond fear. It shows you how you can pursue your creativity, in fact, creating things is our purpose on earth and if we let fear, guilt or doubt stops us, then our lives fails to fulfill its purpose.

So if you have urges to make or create things, to write a book, launch a business, or whatever the hell it is that you dream of doing, but haven't found the courage to step out and do it, due to fear of failure or what not, read this book. It'll save your life, as it did mine!

She encourages us to " have a go" follow our hearts inquisitiveness and not be held back by anyone or anything. She is an extraordinary voice in a world often largely indifferent to our art - but encourages each and every one of us to express ourselves anyway - if nothing else we'll enjoy the discovering of Big Magic in our lives, and she may have helped many to face their creative fears and unblock the things holding us back . I predict a world wide surge in creativity lol - this lady oozes love and humility and great joy .

This book was full on inspiration and some commensence ideas. It gives a writer the motivation to keep writing and some commensence ideas that I think artistic people forget when trying too hard to perfect their craft. I did find a couple of parts of the book to be a bit airy fairy for me, but that could be just my personal taste. I still think if you are a writer or artist it is a good inspirational book. It has some motivational ideas that I would like to put on my inspiration board to keep me motivated.

This is an amazing and really easy to read book (I read it during my commute to work in less than a week) if you work in a creative field or simply have a hobby that you love or just because. It doesn't have the ultimate recipe to live a fearless life but it has some insights that help me a lot with my creative life and how to get rid of unnecessary burdens and also to cope with my need to be perfect. This one is in my phone, my personal library and my kindle, I really love it.

I chose to buy the audio narration for this book and I would very much recommend this - the author reads this herself and her voice is very engaging, calm but emotive when the text required it. I would recommend this book to anyone who is thinking about living a more creative life, it is practical and thoughtful without assuming any basis in religion which I appreciated.
